Technology is the New Literacy

It is the way in which our world communicates, does research, and organizes information. The use of technology is growing at an exponential rate, and schools need to surf the technology wave in order to better serve our students and community. Twenty years ago was a day that will live in infamy. It was the day that I entered my lifelong learning career as a kindergartner. It is amazing how much technology has changed since I was in grade school. The usefulness of computers and information technology has expanded, and we no longer can just teach our students to be literate in reading, but they also need to be literate in technology. According to the Technology Standards for School Administrators, it is the responsibility of educational leaders to “maintain an inclusive and cohesive process to develop, implement, and monitor a dynamic, long-range, and systemic technology plan to achieve the vision.”
