In my math and science classes, we use on-line math games to solidify concepts, and spreadsheets to organize data and create graphs. Students use technology to address local problems such as our water supply, acid rain, and global warming. Teachers use collaborative activities such as blogs with on-line instruction in order to enhance communication. It is important for students to be prepared to work in today’s technological work environment, and to understand how to use the productive aspects of computers. Technology cannot be used in the classroom solely for drill and practice. Technology in the classroom needs to incorporate the constructivist model where students use multiple strategies in problem solving and different representations of knowledge.
