Teachers might have some reasons for not implementing a constructivist curriculum which is an approach concerned with uncovering the students thinking and applying their knowledge to their cultural situations. Most teachers are probably used to a traditional curriculum where they would begin with a formal structure of the subject matter and have predetermined understandings to be acquired by the students. In today’s world, we live in a standards-based system where students learning goals are created and assessed by adults. It is not student-centered, it is adult-centered. Adults choose the topics, how it should be taught, the resources that should be used, and what the student must understand. The constructivist curriculum could be used in certain subjects.
